Lincoln MKZ

6-Speed SelectShiftmkz-performance-introduction Automatic with Push-Button Shift

Ordinarily a conventional lever on the floor or steering column comes to mind when you’re thinking about the design of a gear shifter. But the 2016 Lincoln MKZ is different. Departing from the conventional, designers put the transmission controls in a vertical series of ergonomic buttons on the center instrument panel. For a sport-performance feel in a Lincoln MKZ, pressing the “S” button¹ puts you in the Sport mode of Lincoln Drive Control. You can also enjoy sporty driving by using paddle shifters (not shown) located on the steering wheel.¹ Eliminating the floor shifter frees up space between the driver and passenger seats, and enhances the clean, uncluttered appearance that characterizes the whole of the Performance.

Performance Choices

The Lincoln MKZ offers three engine choices. A V6 for the performance-minded. An efficientmkz-performance-feature-1-2 hybrid. And the innovative EcoBoost® engine that provides the best of both worlds.

  • The 2.0L EcoBoost is the standard Lincoln MKZ powerplant. EcoBoost uses three technologies – the boost of turbocharging, the precision and efficiency of direct injection, and the sophistication of twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT). The result is sporty V6-like performance (240 horsepower;mkz-performance-feature-1-1 270 lb.-ft. torque).
  • The 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 is for the driver who wants a higher-performance experience of 300 horsepower and 277 lb.-ft. of torque. Ti-VCT controls when intake/exhaust valves open and close, and optimizes combustion at full load to deliver power and low-speed torque for responsive passing and merging.
  • The efficient hybrid powertrain consists of an electric motor and a 2.0L Atkinson-cycle I-4 gas engine. The power sources combine to generate 188 combined horsepower.

Intelligent All-Wheel Drive

Whether you’re driving on dry pavement, snow, mud or gravel, you’ll feel confident knowing your Lincoln MKZ is equipped with available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD). That’s because AWD constantly monitors road conditions and automatically distributes engine torque to the wheels having the most traction. AWD is optional with the 2.0L EcoBoost® and 3.7L Ti-VCT V6 engines.

Adaptive LED Headlamps with Auto High Beams

The standard adaptive LED headlamps turn with the steering wheel angle and vehicle speed to allow a greater field of vision around the darkest curves. Using a windshield-mounted camera that monitors traffic conditions, the available auto high beams can switch to high-beam intensity when no other vehicles are near, and revert to low-beam intensity when sensors detect the headlamps or taillamps of other vehicles.
